9 youth and 9 adults traveled to the National Shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha to celebrate her feast day with the Franciscan friars and Native American community July 16 and 17. The group was representing Pack and Troop 233, sponsored by St. Kateri parish.
The group camped out in tents on the shrine’s grounds for two nights. Sunday the scouts were able to lead the procession during Mass with the relic of St. Kateri, a chorus of Mowhawk and Algonquin women, and the celebrants.
Pack 233 would like to make this an annual event.
