Sen. Schumer holds online lottery to see Pope Francis in Washington

New York Sen. Chuck Schumer is holding an online lottery for tickets to attend Pope Francis’ address to the joint meeting of Congress and the papal audience outside the U.S. Capitol on Sept. 24.

One person will be selected in a raffle to be Schumer’s guest for the pope’s address to the joint meeting of Congress. Pope Francis will be the first pope to give such an address.

One hundred winners will be selected for pairs of tickets to the papal audience on the West Lawn of the Capitol, which will follow Pope Francis’ address to Congress.

To enter the lottery, fill out the entry form on Schumer’s website by Aug. 26. The drawing for the tickets, which are free of charge, will be held on Aug. 27, and winners will be notified personally after that date.
