St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry, 120 French Road, Pittsford, is offering a series of courses on “Being Catholic Today” July 17-21.
The courses are aimed at providing Catholics an opportunity to learn, reflect and dialogue about theology today and the crucial issues facing the church, including teens’ views of the church; “traditional” and “progressive” views of the church; science and the church; the saints; and how ministers can both honor tradition and remain relevant.
The courses are slated as follows:
* “The Church Who Cares or The Church: Who Cares,”July 17 and 19 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
* “Being Catholic: What Do Teens Think?” July 18 and 20 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
* “Making Friends With Saints,” July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
* “Catholic Worldviews: Traditional vs. Progressive,” July 24 and 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
* “Advances in Science and Catholic Moral Response,” July 26 and 27 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The courses also are available via live video conferencing at sites in Watkins Glen and Auburn. Cost is $50 per course.
