Sharing our faith, one pin at a time

About a year ago, Staff Writer Amy Kotlarz told me about a new social-media website where people create virtual corkboards on which they pin photos of and website links to their favorite things.

It didn’t sound as enjoyable as the social-media sites Facebook and Twitter, which both the Catholic Courier and I participate in.

But I trust Amy’s social-media savvy, so I checked it out.

That’s when my love of Pinterest was born.

I turn to Pinterest for lots of things — dinner ideas, craft projects, teacher blogs that help me further my children’s educations, and doses of inspiration when I need it.

And lately, I’ve noticed that the Catholic world in general seems to be turning to Pinterest as well.

For example, I’ve found Our Sunday Visitor, Catholic Relief Services, the Catholic Review in Baltimore, and various youth ministers and youth-ministry resources. And now the Courier has its own Pinterest presence as well.

So as part of Pope Benedict’s Year of Faith and his call to use new media to evangelize, why not check out Pinterest and other social-media websites in general, and the Courier‘s presence on those sites in particular? We’d love to see you there and get a conversation going.

And together we can share our faith with each other and the world.
