A 75-year jubilarian in the Sisters of St. Joseph, Sister Agnes Mary Linehan, 94, died on April 17, 2007, at the congregation’s motherhouse.
She entered the congregation from her home parish of St. Francis de Sales in Geneva and earned her bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College. She taught in diocesan schools from 1933 to 1960, including Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rochester; St. Patrick in Seneca Falls and St. Patrick in Mount Morris. After two years as a cottage mother at St. Joseph’s Villa in Rochester, she taught at Immaculate Conception School in Ithaca for 21 years and tutored there for three years.
In 1996 Sister Linehan left Ithaca and retired to the motherhouse where she enjoyed the prayer ministry and rooting for her favorite teams, the New York Yankees and Notre Dame.
She is survived by her nieces, Eileen Jones, Barbara Carpenter and Patricia DiFabion; grandnieces and grandnephews; and her sisters in community. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel on April 23, 2007, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
