Sister Alma Caroline Statt, SSND, 89

School Sister of Notre Dame Alma Caroline Statt died May 25, 2015, in Wilton, Conn. She was 89 years old.

Sister Statt entered the congregation from her home parish of Holy Ghost in Gates and pronounced her final wows in 1946.

She began her 67-year career in education in 1946. She taught at schools in Albany and Maryland before returning to the Rochester Diocese, where she taught at Holy Redeemer, Holy Family and Notre Dame Learning Center, Rochester; St. Margaret Mary and Bishop Kearney High School, Irondequoit; and Siena Catholic Academy, Brighton. In 2013, Sister Statt retired to Villa Maria Notre Dame in Wilton, Conn.

She is survived by her brothers, Joseph (Bobbie), John (Thelma) and Raymond; and her sisters, Jane (David) Richardson and Jean (Francis) Troyon.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the Chapel of Villa Notre Dame on May 31, 2015, with burial at St. Mary Cemetery in Bethel, Conn. She will be remembered at a Mass at Holy Ghost Church in Gates on Sunday, July 26, 2015, at 8:30 a.m.
