Sister of St. Joseph Ann d’Assisi Donofrio died on Dec. 26, 2016. She was 92 years old.
She entered the congregation in 1943 from her home parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Rochester. She received a bachelor’s of education in 1946 from Nazareth College.
She taught at St. Francis Xavier and St. Ambrose, Rochester; St. Mary, Elmira; Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton; Immaculate Conception, Ithaca; and St. Jerome, East Rochester.
In 1963 Sister Donofrio’s health failed and she spent time in St. Joseph Hospital, Elmira, and Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. During her recovery, she worked as a classroom assistant, housekeeper and seamstress at the motherhouse.
She was assigned to Nazareth Hall in 1972 where she served as a teacher, remedial math tutor, school lunch manager and cafeteria director. In 2009 she moved to the motherhouse where she participated in prayer ministry.
Sister Donofrio is survived by her sisters, Jane Passino, Eleanor Piendel and Yolanda Ruggeri; several nieces, nephews and friends; and by her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel in Pittsford on Jan. 3, 2017, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
