Sister Ann Miller died on April 9, 2011, at Mercy Center in Brighton. She was 84.
During her 67 years as a Sister of Mercy, Sister Miller served as a teacher, principal and vice superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Rochester. She served at St. Andrew, Annunciation and St. John the Evangelist, Rochester; St. Louis, Pittsford; Our Lady of Mercy, Brighton; and Corning Catholic schools. She later served in administrative roles as councilor (1983-89) and major superior (1989-97) for the Sisters of Mercy of Rochester. She also served as vice president of mission effectiveness at St. James Hospital, Hornell (1997-2002).
Sister Miller coauthored A Graced History: The Sisters of Mercy of Rochester 1900-2000 with Sister Kathleen Milliken before joining the novitiate community in Laredo, Texas, as a community sister (2005-08). She recently served as the local development coordinator (Rochester) for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas New York, Pennsylvania, Pacific West Community (2008-11).
She is survived by her brother, Joseph (Diane) Miller; nephews, Michael (Ann), Raymond (Linda) and David Chandler; and her sisters in the congregation.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 14, 2011, in the chapel at Mercy Center. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
