Sister of St. Joseph Anne Pfrang (formerly Sister Mary Annette) died Feb. 21, 2021. She was 75 years old.
Sister Pfrang entered the congregation in 1964 from her home parish of St. Michael in Rochester. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1972 and a master’s degree in education in 1976, both from Nazareth College.
She taught at St. Lawrence School, Greece, and St. Mary School, Canandaigua. She also served as principal for three years at St. James School, Waverly, and was principal of St. Helen School, Gates, from 1982-91.
In 1992, Sister Pfrang was assigned to work at the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Cornerstone Crafts. In 1996, she became a department manager at MJ Designs in Victor. She then moved to Geneva and managed the Ave Maria Shop at DeSales High School until the shop closed in 2003.
After a two-year renewal program, Sister Pfrang served as unit secretary at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse. From 2012-17, she worked as secretary/receptionist at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish’s St. Margaret Mary Church in Irondequoit. Because of failing health, she moved to the motherhouse in 2018.
Sister Pfrang is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Bauman; nieces, nephews and friends; and her sisters in the congregation. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapel Feb. 26, 2021., with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
