Sister Carol Klem, SSJ, 66

Sister of St. Joseph Carol Klem died Oct. 23, 2014, at age 66.

She entered the congregation in 1966 from her home parish of Holy Trinity, Webster. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English in 1972 and a master’s degree in education in 1976, both from Nazareth College, Pittsford.

Sister Klem taught at St. Francis de Sales, Geneva; Immaculate Conception, Ithaca; Nazareth Hall, Rochester; St. Lawrence, Greece; and Trinity Montessori, Pittsford. She spent several years with the Redemptorists and the Good Shepherd Sisters before returning to the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1991. She served in several of the congregation’s ministries and directed the altar bread department.

She is survived by her father, Peter Klem Jr.; siblings, Peter (Judy), Jeanne, and Thomas; nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation.

Sister Klem’s funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel on Oct. 29, 2014, with burial in Rochester’s Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
