Sister Dolores Ann Huether SSJ; teacher, secretary

Sister of St. Joseph Dolores Ann Huether died March 15, 2019. She was 95 years old.

Sister Huether entered the congregation in 1942 from her home parish of Most Precious Blood, Rochester. She earned her teacher certification in 1945. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in education (1952) and secretarial science (1961) from Nazareth College and a master’s degree in business education from Boston University (1966).

Sister Huether served as office secretary at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira from 1945-48. She then taught at St. Patrick, Dansville, and St. Joseph’s Villa, Rochester. In 1958, she began teaching business at Nazareth Academy in Rochester and Mount Carmel High School in Auburn. After almost 50 years of teaching, she retired in 1996.

Sister Huether remained at the Nazareth Academy Convent where she performed community service. In 2014, she moved to the motherhouse in Pittsford.

Sister Huether is survived by her sister, Bernadine Gordon; nieces, nephews and her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapel on March 19, 2019, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
