Sister of St. Joseph Genevieve Turner died Feb. 27, 2022. She was 95 years old.
Sister Turner entered the congregation in 1946 from her home parish of Holy Spirit, Buffalo. She received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1959 from Nazareth College.
She began her teaching career in 1949 at St. Casmir, Elmira. She also taught at St. John the Evangelist, Spencerport; Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rochester; St. Mary, Elmira; St. Paul, Oswego; St. Stephen, Geneva; and St. Patrick, Mount Morris.
In 1967, Sister Turner was assigned to be a driver for the sisters at the motherhouse, a position that she served in until 1999. For the next three years, she assisted with the Sister Margaret Mary Cookie business. In 2003, she assisted with the maintenance of the cars in the motherhouse fleet until her retirement in 2012.
Sister Turner is survived by her brother, Paul; sister-in-law, Patricia; nieces and nephews; friends; and her sisters in the congregation. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapel March 4, 2022, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
