Sister of St. Joseph Kathleen Klier (formerly Sister Frederica) died Sept. 13, 2012, at the age of 69.

Sister Klier entered the congregation from her home parish of St. Pius Tenth in Chili in 1961. She received a bachelor’s degree in English in 1969 from Nazareth College and earned a master’s degree in education in 1982 from SUNY Brockport.

She taught at St. Monica and Nazareth Hall, Rochester; St. Alphonsus, Auburn; Mother of Sorrows, Greece; St. James, Waverly; and St. Francis De Sales, Geneva. In 1978, she became principal at St. Francis de Sales (later St. Francis-St. Stephen) where she remained until 1989. From 1989-91, she was an intern in the secretary general’s office and then served as secretary general for the next 15 years. In 2006, due to failing health, she left that position and became a major part of the motherhouse support staff.

She is survived by her sister, Sister Mary Elizabeth Klier, OSF; several cousins; and by her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse in Pittsford Sept. 19, 2012, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Sisters of St Joseph Ministry Fund, 150 French Road, Rochester, NY 14618.
