Sister of St. Joseph Margaret Charles LaShomb died March 9, 2015, at the age of 88.
She entered the congregation in 1945 from her home parish, St. Francis Cabrini in Sandy Creek. She earned a BA in social studies and Latin from Nazareth College in 1954.
Sister LaShomb taught at Corpus Christi and St. Joseph’s Villa, Rochester; St. Anthony, Elmira; and Immaculate Conception, Ithaca.
In 1963, she was assigned to the motherhouse as bookkeeper and support staff in the dining room. She became the congregation’s treasurer in 1964, in 1976 she, was appointed assistant treasurer general for Congregational Administration. After her retirement in 2009, and with her health seriously compromised, she continued to work in the finance department until very shortly before her death.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen and Elizabeth; We normally sister-in-law, Sarah; nieces and nephews; and by her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel on March 13,2015, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
