Sister Marie Bernard Kinsella of the Sisters of St. Joseph died April 28, 2003, at the motherhouse. She was 95.
She entered the congregation from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Brockport. She received her bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and her master’s from the University of Rochester. For 34 years she taught at Nazareth Academy and several parochial schools. She then became a school supervisor and was diocesan social studies consultant.
Sister Kinsella also worked at the congregational level in development, later becoming a parish visitor at St. Louis Parish in Pittsford. She continued counseling and prayer ministry after her retirement.
She is survived by her sister, Marcella McAniff; nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated April 30 in the motherhouse chapel, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 150 French Road, Rochester, NY 14618.
