Sister Marie Xavier Fox, SSJ, 92

Sister of St. Joseph Marie Xavier Fox died April 2, 2010, at the motherhouse in Pittsford. She was 92.

Sister Fox entered the congregation in 1932 from Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Perkinsville. She graduated from Nazareth Normal School in 1939 and later earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Nazareth College in 1945.

Sister Fox began her teaching career in 1939 and taught at Holy Apostles, Holy Rosary and Corpus Christi, Rochester; St. John the Evangelist, Greece; St. Aloysius, Auburn; and St. Stephen, Geneva. In 1960 she became sacristan and pastoral visitor at St. Ann’s Home in Rochester and worked there for almost 40 years. She then moved to the motherhouse and was involved in prayer ministry.

She is survived by her sister, Almeda King; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated on April 6, 2010, in the motherhouse chapel, with the burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
