Sister Mark Rumble, SSJ; taught in Rochester, Ogdensburg dioceses

Sister of St. Joseph Mark Rumble died Aug. 6, 2018. She was 88 years old.

Sister Rumble entered the congregation in Watertown in 1953 from her home parish of St. James in Carthage, N.Y. She earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Potsdam in 1966.

Sister Rumble taught in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Ogdensburg and transferred to the Sisters of the St. Joseph in Rochester in 1980. In the Rochester Diocese, she taught at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rochester, and Guardian Angels, Henrietta.

After nearly 40 years in the classroom, she moved to the motherhouse in Pittsford in 1993 and worked in congregational services. She continued in this service until a short time before her death.

Sister Rumble is survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and her sisters in the congregation. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel Aug. 11, 2018, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
