Sister of St. Joseph, Mary Agnes Trabold (formerly Sister Euphrasia) died Dec. 23, 2008, at the motherhouse. She was 86.
Sister Trabold entered the congregation in 1940 from her home parish of Holy Rosary, Rochester. She earned a BE in 1947, a BA in English in 1959 and an MS in education in 1976, all from Nazareth College, Pittsford.
In 1943, she began a nearly 40-year career in teaching. Among the schools where she taught were St Mary, Elmira; St Joseph’s Villa, St. Monica, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Sacred Heart and Nazareth Academy, Rochester; Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Brockport; and Holy Trinity, Webster. From 1971-74 she was both principal and teacher at St Patrick, Mount Morris.
From 1981-95 she served as pastoral assistant at St Michael Parish, Newark. She then joined the staff at the SSJ Spirituality Center in Rochester and later served as a volunteer at St Joseph’s Convent Infirmary until her retirement in 2003.
She is survived by her brother, Frank (Vicki) Trabold; sister, Bonnie (Joseph) Merkel; brother-in-law, Fred Travert; sister-in-law, Peg Constiglione; many nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated Dec. 29, 2008, in the motherhouse chapel with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
