Sister of Mercy Mary Concepta Walsh, died on April 30, 2014. She was 93.
She entered the congregation on Sept. 6, 1939, and professed final vows on Aug. 25, 1945. Much of her religious life was centered on teaching children and helping the poor.
She taught at St. Salome, Irondequoit; Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Rochester; and St. Vincent, Corning.
From 1966-73, she ministered to the poor at Joseph Avenue Center. She joined Sister Phyllis Bernardo in a pastoral ministry at St. Benedict the Moor Parish, Indianola, Miss., from 1983-2002.
Sister Walsh is survived by her niece, Lorraine (Donald) Walker; nephews, Larry Gerard and Michael (Karen) Walsh; and her sisters in the congregation.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 6, 2014, at Mercy Center in Brighton, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
