Mercy Sister Mary Edward Connelly died Oct. 18, 2014, at Mercy Center in Rochester. She was 87.
She graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in Brighton before entering the congregation in 1945 and professing final vows in 1952. After earning a bachelor’s degree in biology from St. Bonaventure University in Olean she taught science for more than 30 years at Our Lady of Mercy and at Cardinal Mooney High School in Greece. She also spent many years caring for family members when they were ill.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nephews, as well as her sisters in the congregation.
Sister Connelly’s funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 22, 2014, in the Mercy Center chapel, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.
