Sister of St. Joseph Mary Kevin Moynihan died Jan. 3, 2016. She was 100 years old.
She entered the congregation in 1944 from her home parish of Sacred Heart Cathedral. She earned a bachelor’s of education in 1952 and a bachelor’s of science in business from Nazareth College in 1964. She completed a master’s of science in business at Boston University in 1972.
Sister Moynihan taught at St. Monica and St. Francis Xavier, Rochester; St. Theodore, Gates; and St. Patrick and St. Mary, Dansville. She became principal and eighth-grade teacher at Ss. Peter and Paul in Elmira in 1960.
Sister Moynihan taught business at Nazareth Academy in 1963. In 1967, she became chair of the business department and held that position for more than 15 years. She continued teaching and working in student transportation until her retirement in 1990. She remained at Nazareth Academy Convent until 2014, serving generously wherever help was needed.
Sister Moynihan is survived by her sister, Agnes Craig; several nieces and nephews; faithful friend, Jeanne Marie Jongen; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel in Pittsford on Jan. 7, 2016, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
