Sister of Mercy Mary Lorraine Kaufman died Oct. 12, 2012. at age 96.
Sister Kaufman entered the congregation in 1943 and professed her final vows in 1949.
She was a teacher in the primary grades of Catholic schools in the Rochester area and Elmira for 40 years of her ministry. She then served as a secretary at Cardinal Mooney High School and the motherhouse in Brighton. During her years of retirement, she served as the postal clerk at the motherhouse and in the spiritual apostolate.
Sister Kaufman is survived by her sister, Arline Lynch; nieces and nephews, Laurie Champion, John (Margaret) Lynch and Jan (Christy) Lynch; and her sisters in the community.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Oct. 16, 2012, at Mercy Center in Brighton. Internment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
