Sister Mary Trinita, SSND, 87

School Sister of Notre Dame Mary Trinita (Elvira DiGiacomo) died Aug. 12, 2015, in Baltimore, Md. She was 87 years old.

Sister Trinita graduated from Holy Redeemer School and Our Lady of Mercy High School in Rochester.

Sister Trinita entered the novitiate on July 16, 1949, and professed her first vows on Aug. 3, 1950. She taught at schools in Baltimore and Maryland and also earned a bachelor of science in education degree at Notre Dame of Maryland University.

In 1971, she returned to Rochester and received a master of education in reading degree from the University of Rochester. She returned to Baltimore in 1972 and continued to work as an educator and principal until 2001. She then served as a receptionist at Brighton Gardens Inc. in Baltimore, and volunteered in Villa Assumpta Gift Shop and ministered to the sisters in the Maria Health Care Center.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Lou Belair and Rose M. Warren; by nieces, Marie Lucurio and Susan Belair; and nephews, David Belair, Gerald Belair and Bruce Comfort, all of Rochester.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at Chapel at Villa Assumpta on Aug. 31, 2015, with burial at Villa Mary Cemetery in Glen Arm, Md.
