Sister of Mercy Lorraine Masucci died Nov. 23, 2018. She was 94 years old.
She entered the congregation on Sept. 2, 1942, after graduating from Our Lady of Mercy High School, Brighton. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from St. Bonaventure College and a master’s degree in religious education from Seattle (Washington) University.
She taught at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Annunciation, Rochester: St. Thomas the Apostle, Irondequoit; St. Louis, Pittsford; St. Mary, Corning; St. Ann, Hornell; and Holy Family, Auburn. She was also principal at St. Thomas.
Sister Masucci was a religious coordinator at St. John Parish, Clyde. Following her work as pastoral assistant at St. Paul of the Cross, Honeoye Falls, she became an adult religious-education coordinator in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. There, she worked as an adult education consultant for the archdiocese and volunteered in the adult-education program at the Church of St. Ann in Atlanta.
Sister Masucci is survived by her sisters, Madeline Winkler Gardner and Betty Drake; brother, Anthony Masucci Jr.; several nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the Mercy Center chapel on Nov. 30, 2018, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
