Sister of Mercy Patricia Prinzing; served in leadership roles

Sister of Mercy Patricia Prinzing, who had served in various leadership roles at St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell and also was interim president of Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women in Rochester, died Oct. 11, 2023.

Sister Prinzing entered the congregation in 1958 and professed her final vows in 1966. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and master’s degrees in both theology/religious education and business administration.

Her teaching assignments included St. James School, St. Mary School, Bath, and Our Lady of Mercy High School, Rochester. In 1981, Sister Prinzing moved on to St. James Mercy Hospital in Hornell, serving in a variety of roles, including occupational therapy, Quality of Work Life Program, public relations and mission effectiveness, until 1996.

Sister Prinzing served as vice president of the former Rochester Regional Community and on the leadership team for the New York Pennsylvania West leadership team. Most recently, she served as interim president of Our Lady of Mercy.

Sister Prinzing is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jean Prinzing; niece, Stacey; nephew, T. Scott (Lynne); two great-nieces and a great-nephew, many friends, and her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the Mercy Center Chapel Oct. 23, 2023, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
