Sister of St. Joseph Anne Martin Morris died March 15, 2020. She was 97 years old.
Sister Morris entered the congregation in 1946 from her home parish of Corpus Christi in Rochester. She earned a teacher’s certificate in 1949 and a bachelor’s degree in education in 1957 from Nazareth College.
Sister Morris taught at St. Augustine, St. Stanislaus, Immaculate Conception and St. Anthony of Padua, Rochester; St. Patrick, Corning; and St. Stephen, Geneva. In 1962, she was assigned as staff at the motherhouse infirmary.
Sister Morris returned to the classroom in 1964 as a classroom assistant at Sacred Heart and Most Precious Blood, Rochester, and St. John the Evangelist, Greece. Having studied business at Nazareth College from 1974-76, she was employed as secretary at St. Joseph Early Childhood Center in Rochester in 1979.
She returned to the infirmary to provide secretarial services in 1981. In 1987, she began working in the library and archives at the motherhouse and worked there until her retirement in 2014.
Sister Morris is survived by her sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her sisters in the congregation. Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapel on March 18, 2020, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
