Sister of St. Joseph Concetta Mitrano died Dec. 15, 2017. She was 95 years old.
Sister Mitrano entered the congregation in 1939 from her home parish of St. Anthony of Padua, Rochester. She received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1949 and a bachelor’s degree in English and history in 1962 from Nazareth College.
She was a first-grade teacher for more than 40 years. She taught at St. Michael, Penn Yan; Holy Apostles, St. Anthony of Padua and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rochester; St. Patrick, Mount Morris; Holy Trinity, Webster; and St. Joseph, Wayland.
She retired from teaching in 1987. After moving to the motherhouse in Pittsford, she became codirector of dining room services and then worked in the altar breads department for more than 10 years. Sister Mitrano also helped out in archives and was active in prayer ministry.
She is survived by her sisters, Sisters of St. Joseph Cora Marie Mitrano, Ann Regina Mitrano and Frances (Gene) Uttaro; brothers, Vincent P. Mitrano and Gerald A. (Barbara) Mitrano; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapelDec. 19, 2017, with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
