Mercy Sister Patricia Flynn (formerly Sister Mary Blaise) died March 4, 2011, at Mercy Center in Brighton. She was 87.
Sister Flynn entered the congregation in 1951 from St. John the Evangelist in Rochester and professed her perpetual vows on Aug. 16, 1957.
She taught at Mt. Carmel and Annunciation, Rochester; St. Salome, Irondequoit; and St. Ann, Hornell.
In 1967 Sister Flynn established St. Michael’s Woodshop, which provided a safe environment, training in carpentry skills and work ethics for at-risk teens.
She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy (Luke) McKeever of California, Jean Flynn of Illinois, Margaret (Phil) Myers of Big Flats, Sister Blaise (Kathleen) Flynn, OP, of Massachusetts and Carole (Richard) Korupp of North Carolina; her brothers, Richard (Marilyn Proia) of Rochester, James P. (Christine) of Rochester and Thomas K. (Carol) of Virginia; and her sisters in the congregation.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on March 8, 2011, with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
