Sister of St. Joseph Robert Mary Kosty died Nov. 30, 2012, at the age of 86.
She entered the congregation in 1945 from her home parish of St. Patrick in Corning. She received a bachelor’s degree in education in 1951 from Nazareth College in Pittsford.
She taught at St. Francis Xavier, Corpus Christi and Most Precious Blood, Rochester; St. Mary, Canandaigua; St. Patrick and St. Mary, Dansville; St. Anthony, Elmira; St. Stephen, Geneva; St. Mary Our Mother, Horseheads; St. Mary, Auburn; and St. Patrick, Corning. In 1974, she became the admissions officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira. She later served as a pastoral visitor at the hospital as well.
Sister Kosty is survived by her brother, Alexander Kosty; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated at the motherhouse chapel in Pittsford on Dec. 8, 2012, with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning.
