Sister Teresa Singer, SSJ, 90

Sister of St. Joseph Teresa Singer, 90, a native of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Rochester, died March 1, 2005, at the congregation’s motherhouse in Pittsford.

Sister Singer entered the congregation in 1941 and taught in diocesan schools for more than 28 years. Those schools included Holy Trinity, Webster; St. Patrick, Seneca Falls; Nazareth Hall, Sacred Heart and Holy Rosary in Rochester; St. Patrick, Mount Morris; St. Mary, Dansville; St. Jerome, East Rochester; and St. Mary, Canandaigua.

Following her retirement in 1973, she was a classroom assistant and office aide at St. Mary School, Canandaigua.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and her sisters in the community.

Sister Singer’s funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel on March 4, 2005, followed by burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, 150 French Road, Rochester, NY 14618.
