Sister of St. Joseph Teresina Curran died Oct. 16, 2016. She was 90 years old.
She entered the congregation in 1940 from her home parish of Ss. Peter and Paul, Elmira. She completed Nazareth Normal High School in 1944 and earned a bachelor’s in education from Nazareth College in 1953.
Sister Curran taught at St. Alphonsus, Auburn; Our Mother of Sorrows, Greece; St. Pius Tenth, Chili; Sacred Heart, Perkinsville; St. James, Waverly; Immaculate Conception, Ithaca; and St. Paul, Oswego.
In 1974, she began working as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph Convent Infirmary and spent a year working at the Brightonian Nursing Home in Brighton. In 1978, she took classes in licensed practical nursing at Geneva General Hospital before returning to the Brightonian for 10 more years of service. In 1988, she went to Valley Manor in Rochester as an aide before retiring in 2002.
Sister Curran is survived by her niece, nephews, cousins, friends and her sisters in the congregation.
Her funeral liturgy was celebrated in the motherhouse chapel on Oct. 20, 2016, with burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
