Sisters are true heroes

To the editor:

With regard to the recent Vatican censure of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, let me offer a layperson’s point of view.

The "good sisters" have had a long lasting and long running effect on my life, beginning as a young boy in Catholic school some 60 years ago but even more so now in this present day and age. Some of those same ladies are still serving but in much greater and more difficult ways. One of them from my "former life" now appears frequently as the director of a soup kitchen referring her friends in need to me for bicycle transportation. God bless you, Sister Marianna/Shirley Pilot.
Several others, Sister Grace, Sister Janet, Sister Livia and Sister Kay work tirelessly on behalf of the poor and disenfranchised and do so well beyond the normal retirement age. They, THEY, are my true heroes and are leading us in the ways of the Lord.

Ladies, you may not be "the church" but you surely are mine!
