To the editor:
The Catholic Coalition on Climate Change recently published a bulletin calling for parishes to measure their carbon footprints to reduce energy consumption and to heed the panel of experts’ memo on climate change.
The climate may be changing, but it’s due to the natural order which God has set in motion. The “Global Warming is caused by people and we can stop it” theory is the work of liberals with an agenda of wanting to scare us into submission so they can run every aspect of our lives. It’s all politics. I don’t want politics mixed with my religion. Likewise, I believe the pope is infallible on matters of faith and morals. However, I think the Holy Father should leave science to real scientists and not ride the wave created by the many fake scientists who signed the “Global Warming Manifesto.”
I’ve never thought much of Al Gore’s Energy Star program, and if it’s tied to carbon footprint tracking, it’s even more of a waste of time than I previously thought.
The Catholic Coalition on Climate Change’s subtitle is “Putting Catholic faith into action on climate change.” I think what it really should be, is “Putting our hard-earned, weekly donations earmarked for the advancement of Catholicism to secular use.”
I will continue to respect God’s Earth and use wisely the natural resources he has loaned us. I will also continue to help the needy of the world to the best of my abilities. I will not allow my donations to be wasted on political agendas.
