Soap star brings Gospel to Greece

A soap-opera star will act out a modern-day interpretation of the Gospel of Mark at a local church.

Frank Runyeon, who in the 1980s starred for seven seasons opposite Meg Ryan in “As the World Turns” and who also appeared on “Santa Barbara,” “Falcon Crest,” “General Hospital” and “L.A. Law,” will perform “Afraid! The Gospel of Mark” at 4 p.m. March 11 at St. Mark Church in Greece. The play is an adaptation of the biblical text, which Runyeon translated into contemporary American speech.

Runyeon has taken his five critically acclaimed Biblical one-man shows across the nation. He has performed around the diocese in the past, including at Rochester Institute of Technology and at area churches.

Runyeon is writing his autobiography, Escape from Hollywood: An Actor’s Journey. Runyeon and his wife of 25 years, Annie, live in Los Angeles with their three children.

Reservations for the performance may be made by calling Victoria MacDonald at 585/227-6824.
