Abraham’s Tent, an interfaith picnic for Christians, Muslims and Jews, will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Ellison Park’s Orchard Grove Shelter, which is accessible from the main entrance off of Blossom Road east of Interstate 590 in Brighton.
The event will feature interfaith soccer clinics for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade and soccer games for kids in grades 7 to 12. Families should bring their own picnics and chairs. The lodge and picnic areas will be available, and free drinks and snacks will be provided. Raffles will take place throughout the day.
The name of the event comes from the three faiths’ common roots in Abraham. The event is sponsored by the Islamic Center of Rochester, the Jewish Community Federation, the Greater Rochester Community of Churches, St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality, Nazareth College’s athletics department and the college’s Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue.
