The Diocese of Rochester’s 2019 Social Ministry Conference will take place May 2 at Notre Dame Retreat House, 5151 Foster Road, Canandaigua.
“Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love” begins with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Speakers and workshops will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Participants will learn about the U.S. bishops’ pastoral letter on racism, and workshops will focus on such issues as farmworkers’ rights, care for creation and pro-life issues and their connection to racism and social division. The keynote speaker will be Gaynelle Wethers, founding director of multicultural affairs at Nazareth College and former pastoral associate at Rochester’s Immaculate Conception Church.
