Social ministry seeks items, help for center

Donations are sought for A New Hope Center, a support and advocacy outlet in Owego for victims of domestic violence, rape and other crimes.

The social ministry committee of Blessed Trinity/St. Patrick parishes is requesting such items as: personal care — toothbrushes, toothpaste and shampoo; household — pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, silverware, cooking utensils, towels, sheets, blankets and draperies; and clothing, crayons, coloring books, toys and stuffed animals for children. Canned pet food also is welcomed. Donations may be left at any of the six Blessed Trinity/St. Patrick churches. Boxes should be marked “A New Hope Center.”

In addition, volunteers are needed to staff hot lines at A New Hope Center and/or provide temporary shelter in their homes. For details, call 607/687-6866 or 800/696-7600.
