Catholic Charities of Steuben/Livingston is requesting donations in lieu of its cancelled “Toastings and Tastings” benefit.
The annual event raises funds to support Catholic Charities programs and services for the impoverished. Typically taking place in early February, this year’s Toastings and Tastings did not take place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Had it occurred, it would have paid tribute to Father Lewis Brown, a major supporter of Toastings and Tastings who hosted last year’s event at the Radisson Hotel Corning. Father Brown, a senior priest in the Diocese of Rochester, died Sept. 5, 2020, at age 79.
Donations can be made online at www.catholiccharitiessteuben.org or mailed to Catholic Charities, 23 Liberty St., Bath, NY 14810, or by contacting Theresa Dougherty at Theresa.Dougherty@dor.org or 607-368-1392.
According to Catholic Charities officials, community financial support is especially needed during a period when many folks have suffered health and economic crises related to the pandemic, sparking a notable rise in requests for Catholic Charities help in such areas as food pantry services and housing and utility assistance.
