Registration is still open for the Chemung County Right to Life’s bus trip to Washington, D.C., for the March for Life.
The bus will leave at approximately 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, from the parking lot of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads. Among the planned activities in Washington on Jan. 24 are attending Mass; visiting politicians’ offices; attending a noontime rally at the Washington Monument; and then taking part in the March for Life, which proceeds to Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court building. Participants will return home later that night.
Cost is approximately $40 per person, with financial assistance available. Adults and school-aged children (grades 4 and up) are invited to attend. Cash donations to cover costs are also welcomed.
The march, which draws tens of thousands of demonstrators annually, is held to protest the legalization of abortions in the United States. It takes place on or near the anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision of Jan. 22, 1973.
