Sister of St. Joseph Mary Daniel Bovenzi, a native of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Rochester, died Aug. 2, 2004, at the congregation’s motherhouse. She was 84.
After entering the congregation, she earned two bachelor’s degrees from Nazareth College. Her teaching assignments included Ss. Peter and Paul, Elmira; St. Francis de Sales, Geneva; Immaculate Conception, Ithaca; St. Francis Xavier, Blessed Sacrament and Corpus Christi schools, Rochester; and St. Michael, Penn Yan.
Sister Bovenzi was principal of Christ the King School in Irondequoit (1963-72) and of St. Augustine School in Rochester (1972-80). She then became resident services coordinator at St. Ann’s Home and The Heritage until 1992 when she retired to the convent infirmary due to illness.
She is survived by her sisters, Clara (William) Spallina, Rita Celentani, Michelena (Anthony) Batisti and Agnes Annechino; nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews; her close friend, Betsy Sconfietti; and her sisters in the congregation.
A memorial liturgy was celebrated in the Motherhouse Chapel on Aug. 7 followed by burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
