Sr. Mary Perpetua McHale, 86

Sister of Mercy Mary Perpetua McHale, a native of Corpus Christi Parish in Rochester, died on Nov. 1, 2006. She was 86.

During 11 years of her tenure as a teacher at St. John the Evangelist on Humboldt Street in Rochester and Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Greece, she served as the congregation’s director of novices. Then, in 1972, she became director of religious education at St. Patrick Parish, Victor, remaining in that position for 18 years. She was pastoral visitor there for the following two years.

Prior to her retirement in 2000, Sister McHale was clerical assistant for Tender Loving Care Agency and coordinator of the retired sisters’ community at the motherhouse.

Sister McHale is survived by her sister, Betty Crino in Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 6, 2006, by her nephew, Father Patrick Crino of Arizona, in the motherhouse chapel. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
