Sr. Teresa D’Alessandro, MPF

Religious Teachers of Filippini Sister Teresa D’Alessandro, 96, who taught religious education in Watkins Glen, died Sept. 6, 2007, at St. Joseph Hall Infirmary at Villa Walsh, Morristown, N.J.

Sister D’Alessandro was born in Termoli, Italy, and entered the order in 1925. She served the community as local superior for 20 years and also was a primary-grade teacher and religious-education instructor at various schools in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. She also taught religious education at St. Mary of the Lake Parish in Watkins Glen and two parishes in New Jersey. She retired to Villa Walsh in 1988 and due to illness lives at the infirmary from 1996 until her death.

Sister D’Alessandro was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters and is survived by her sisters in the congregation.

Her funeral Mass was held at Villa Walsh on Sept. 10, 2007. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hall Infirmary, care of Sister Ascenza Tizzano, Villa Walsh, 455 Western Ave., Morristown, NJ 07960.
