The conference on Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen taking place in October at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Pittsford is now a one-day event.
Originally planned for Oct. 23-25, the conference, “The Life, Thought and Holiness of Fulton J. Sheen: Proclaiming Christ and the Wisdom of the Cross,” will be now be taking place only on Saturday, October 24. The conference will be presented both in person and virtually.
Because the conference’s duration has been shortened, in-person registration is now $35 and virtual registration is now $25. For those who registered for the three-day conference, refunds will be issued directly to the cards used at the time of registration. To register, visit https://stbernards.regfox.com/fulton-sheen.
The keynote speaker for the conference remains Msgr. Jason A. Gray, JCD, who is executive director of the Archbishop Sheen Foundation. He now will be joined by Cheryl C.D. Hughes, Ph.D., a scholar and author, who has written two books on Archbishop Sheen, Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen: Convert Maker and Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen: God’s Great Communicator. Among topics to be discussed are Archbishop Sheen’s sanctity and lived witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ; his spirituality and spiritual writings; and his role in evangelization and catechesis.
Archbishop Sheen, who was bishop of Rochester from 1966-69, bequeathed his personal library and the rights to his famous television series, “Life is Worth Living,” to St. Bernard’s Seminary. St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry retains these archives as the seminary’s successor institution.
