Some 200 to 250 people turned out June 7 at Ithaca’s St. Catherine of Siena Church for its annual picnic. The popular event was held right on church grounds and included food, games and live music.
"The weather was partly cloudy to overcast, with essentially no rain until after the clean up," said Bob Brown, a picnic co-organizer, who noted that the temperature was approximately 70 degrees. "All in all I think the picnic was a great success, with lots of fun and community had by all."
"It was great weather for a picnic. It was overcast but that made it more comfortable for people to enjoy the games, sit outside under the tent, listen to the band, chat with our friends or relax on the grass," said Helen Steh, another co-organizer. She added that "the picnic is especially great because it does attract all ages to come and enjoy our parish community."
The picnic was organized through St. Catherine’s Social and Welcoming Committee, a group that hosts several events throughout the year.
