The gift shop at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elmira is now reopened after undergoing a renovation and expansion that lasted several weeks.
A reopening ceremony took place June 30 in the hospital’s main lobby. Among those attending were Elmira Mayor Stephen Hughes; Second District Councilperson Shirley Williams; St. Joseph’s President and CEO Sister Marie Castagnaro, SSJ; and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary President Mary Navone.
St. Joseph’s facilities engineering department performed the renovation, increasing the gift shop’s size from 280 to 441 square feet. The shop opened in 1958 and is staffed by volunteers from St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. All proceeds are donated by the auxiliary to the hospital. Gift shop items are also available online at the hospital’s Web site, www.stjosephs.org.
