A St. Louis School student won the Second Annual Sister Mary Smith Invitational Spelling Bee March 16 at St. Mary School, Canandaigua. Emma Lucas of St. Louis in Pittsford placed first in the bee. The second-place finisher was Andres Perez of St. Joseph School, Penfield. The bee is named for Sister Smith, SSND, who is the retired principal of St. Boniface and St. Philip Neri schools in Rochester. Fifth- and sixth-grade students from 14 schools in the diocese participate.
