St. Mary Our Mother performs the Living Stations of the Cross

It is a tradition at St. Mary Our Mother School in Horseheads that our 6th grade students present the Living Stations of the Cross to our parish during lent.  While the story may be the same, these 12 year olds never cease to make it their own every year.

From the opening narration of Pontius Pilate during the 1st station, to the echoing sound of the hammer as Jesus was nailed to the cross in the 11th station, the suffering of our Lord was expressed as intimately as possible in this modern era.

Weeks of rehearsals, under the direction of Ms. Kelley Panosian, religious instructor at St. Mary Our Mother School, culminated in three performances, including a very special one attended by the entire Pre-K through 5th grade student body on March 18th.  The reverence displayed by these young men and women throughout each presentation was quite amazing. They truly captured the spirit of Jesus and his eagerness to make this sacrifice for us.

Make plans to join us next year.  Nothing is as humbling as witnessing our youth share their understanding of their faith – it is the best byproduct of a Catholic education!
