The Sr. Mary Smith Invitational Spelling Bee took place on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s School in Canandaigua, N.Y. Thirteen youths from the Finger Lakes and Rochester area Catholic schools participated in the event.

Principal Ann Marie Deutsch welcomed the participants, parents and guests. Dr. Anthony Cook III, superintendent of Catholic schools for the Diocese of Rochester, was the evening’s pronoucer. Judges were Christina Falbo, kindergarten teacher at St. Mary School, and Stacy Maslyn, Grade 5 teacher at St. Mary’s.
Divye Agrawal from St. Mary Our Mother School was the overall winner for the evening. Cole Talbot from St. Francis-St. Stephen’s School was the runner up.
