A first-anniversary celebration of Malawi Hope will take place Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the Marian Center of St. Mary’s Church, located near the corner of Franklin and Fulton streets in Elmira. It will feature talks by two young professionals from Malawi — Frank Mvalo, a development consultant, and Sammy Alfandika, a regional elections officer — who will share information and insights about their native country. They are visiting the Rochester Diocese as part of a Rotary Exchange program. The public is invited to attend the event, which will include refreshments followed by presentations and a question-and-answer session. In addition, a variety of handmade articles from Malawi will be on display.
