St. Pauly Textile aids hurricane survivors

The Rochester-based used-clothing collection company St. Pauly Textile Inc. recently earmarked 90,000 garments for distribution to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

For the next year the company will also work with the American Red Cross and the Rochester Religious Response to Katrina to provide clothing for all of the displaced hurricane victims who relocated in the 13-county area St. Pauly Textile operates in. Joe DeGeorge and Paul Callerame, the company’s co-founders, have asked that any financial donations be directed to the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and other relief organizations that are working within the disaster area.

St. Pauly Textile collects used clothing through drives and more than 70 used-clothing drop boxes, many of which are located at Catholic churches and schools. Drop boxes within the Finger Lakes region are located in Auburn, Canandaigua, Clyde, Farmington, Geneva, Lyons, Newark, Ontario, Palmyra, Shortsville, Sodus, Stanley, Victor, Waterloo and Wolcott.
